Acting Intensive: Improv for Burlesque with Minnie Mercury Thursdays, 7:00–8:25 PM Price: $250 Includes: 7 weeks of instruction + Student Spotlight Showcase Series 1: Sept 10 – Oct 29 No Class: 9/24 Dress Rehearsal: Dec 13 Student Spotlight Showcase: Jan 10 Quick thinking, bold choices, and authentic character expression are essential tools for any dynamic burlesque performer. Our resident theatre monger, Minnie Mercury, is back to guide you through the art of improvisation and theatrical play! This 7-week class will help you sharpen your on-stage presence, react organically to the unexpected, and deepen your characterization through acting and improv techniques. By way of interactive improv games, character creation exercises, group discussions, and supportive peer feedback, you will learn how to unlock spontaneous storytelling and connect effortlessly with your audience. This class will result in a performance in the Student Spotlight Showcase by way of a short form improv exercise. You will leave this class with a versatile toolkit for building stronger stage personas, making fearlessly bold choices, and commanding any stage with presence and humor. Please be mindful of your attendance at all classes. Your attendance is essential for your future development as well as participating in group exercises, ensemble improv work, and giving peer feedback. Each class will be taught on the same day every week for a total of seven (7) weeks of instruction. Learning Outcomes: • Master foundational acting and improv techniques tailored specifically for burlesque. • Build and embody a distinct, reactive on-stage burlesque persona. • Enhance audience connection through spontaneous storytelling and dynamic stage presence. • Practice real-time problem solving and adaptability for live performance mishaps or interactions. • Participate in collaborative, supportive feedback discussions with classmates and instructor. • Develop a stronger instinct for character choices and narrative rhythm.
