Fosse Fundamentals with Juniper Fizz 6-Week Series | July 15–August 19 at Creatorspace Wednesdays • 8:30–10:00 PM Dress Rehearsal: Thursday, August 20 Student Showcase: Sunday, August 30 Tuition: $180 The man, the myth, the legend, Bob Fosse's distinctive style defined musical theatre jazz choreography for decades. With an emphasis on crisp uniformity, curious angles, and intentional musicality, even a layman can picture his style of dance. With credits like Chicago, Cabaret, and Sweet Charity, his style pairs tantalizingly with burlesque, but where do you start? This class will touch on Fosse's life and legacy in dance, we will work on classic conditioning to build our dancing muscles and our choreography brains. This class will be beginner friendly and will allow for adaptability while honoring the spirit of this complex style. Students are expected to provide basic "dance blacks" - black character shoes, black fishnets, black bra, and black shorts. Learning Outcomes Learn one (1) choreographed routine Learn to evaluate movement skills in terms of space, time, and force, and reproduce accurately through your own body Learn the basics of Fosse style as well as his impact on theatrical dance Explore movement vocabulary and conditioning for musical theatre jazz dance What to Bring Character shoes, Jazz flats or Dance sneakers.
