This class will teach you the differences and how to adapt to an environment that thrives on improv and unpredictability. Whether you’re a backstage techie wanting to eventually grace the stage or a performer who realizes running the booth gives you the best seat in the house, this workshop will teach you how to keep a room full of half-naked, proverbial cats on schedule without losing your sanity. What We’ll Tackle: The Sacred Tech Sheets: Learn how to build tech sheets for kittens, lights, sound, and other technical needs, and what information is imperative to have before the curtain rises. Reading the Tease: Learning to cue lights and audio when an act relies entirely on vibe, eye contact, and dramatic garment drops rather than script lines. Backstage Diplomacy: Managing large egos in small spaces, enforcing punctuality and act time limits, and maintaining a consent-forward, calm atmosphere amidst chaos. Emergency Kit 101: What to do when a zipper explodes, a track drops out, or a costume piece lands directly on the sound board.
